Monday, February 9th
Good morning to all. This is Chance. I don't have much to report but thought I would drop a quick line. Clay is a little under the weather. He played outside a good bit on Saturday and probably had too much cold, damp air. He had his cast removed last Wednesday. They made him promise he would not be wild and the doctor told him he would have to take it easy for a couple of more weeks. He was playing with the neighbors and they were running and playing chase. His mother reminded him about his promise to the doctor. Clay responded, " I know, I know but it is so hard to be careful." He has not let much slow him down. Clay's little bug that canceled his last surgery has finally gone through everyone in the family. I was the last and it hit me last week at the Ft. Worth Stock Show. We all survived, but Deidra was having to do a lot of running to keep everyone where they were supposed to be. I believe that we posted February 19th as his next surgery date. This procedure has been moved to the 26th of this month. Continuing school, therapy, and day to day activities keep us all busy. Deidra will be sending the promised letter out this week. We will call it a Valentine/1 year update as it will have been one year since the accident this Sunday. Hope everyone is doing well, take care.

Good evening,
ReplyDeleteWas glad for the update Chance, but sorry all of you have been on the sick list. Clay I bet you were glad to get your cast off weren't you? It is hard to be careful. We still think of ya'll everyday and check the blog of a morning and night.
Too bad the surgery date has been changed again but maybe he will be feeling better and better when the time comes.
Have a good week. Love ya'll
I have thought about February 14th so many times, in a way it has gone fast, but it probably seems different to ya'll.
One year already. It seems a lifetime and it seems so quick. May the Lord continue to watch over you all. And may His mercies be new every morning. Blessings
ReplyDeleteHey Ya'll! Morgan and I were just talking about you this evening, mindful of the year anniversary coming up this Sunday. We know it has been draining in so many ways to you, yet it is obvious that you have allowed it to be an experience where God has been able to add a lot to your hearts too. We heard Sunday that sometimes the sheep struggle against moving over hard country but really the Shepherd is trying to take them to greener pasture. We are sorry for the suffering you have all endured, yet thankful that you have showed us there can be gold in a hard experience. Wish we could see you more. We hope this next year will mean lots of progress for Clay and by this time next year maybe he won't have to be being so careful. :) With love, Michelle and Morgan
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiration-Clay has come so far this year! Glad you're all doing well. Still keeping you all in our prayers.

Good morning! It was so wonderful to see a post this morning. Like others, we check in frequently to see what's going on. We're sorry everyone had to share Clay's bug, but glad it's over, now. We look forward to updates of his next surgery. Our love to you all.
ReplyDeleteHi Fites! We still pray for our little Clayball! I mean once you are part of someone's family, you are always a part of it! So, we continually remember our little Clay and Annie is always wanting to know how he is doing. Glad to hear that he has not been able to slow down much that is music to my ears! With Valentine's coming up, I have been thinking of you a lot. I know the anniversary can be tough as you relive so many hard memories, but they are healing as well! God is good! He answered all of our prayers for our little Clay and He has BIG plans for him in the future. Won't it be neat to see what those are! Can't wait! Love to you all! Missy and family
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear Clay is not feeling well! One year already! Alot of water has gone under the bridge since then. Many prayers have been answered.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you everyday.

Our thoughts have gone your way often, too, and we are glad for this post today. It is very hard for a 6 year old to be careful!!! We have one, and know how they are! How many times to we utter those words??? As mentioned above, we appreciate, too, what your year has done...for you, and for us. We have loved your spirits all through the experience, and they have fed us.. even though we don't know you, and we have not been with you. We have thought of the year anniversary coming up, too, and are thankful for the wonderful progress that has been made...Thinking of you very often! Hugs to all of you.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly believe that I have been following Clay's progress for almost a year! You don't know me, but I worked with Emma's (from Clays class) grandmother. Ever since she told us of Clay's accident I've followed your blog and prayed for God's healing touch on Clay as so many others have. HE is so great and I'm so happy that you all have shared this experience. May God continue to bless your family!

ReplyDeleteStill keeping your sweet family in my thoughts & prayers! I just sent y'all a message a minute ago, so let me know if you receive it. Hoping Clay can have some fun & be careful at the same time ... that can't be easy for a little kid!! Love, Katie Crosbie
ReplyDeleteAlways happy to read an update about your little family and especially the Clay that is so dear to so many of us that have never had the privilege of meeting him. So thankful he is doing so well.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Chance, Dee Dee, Carson, Cody and Clay. I will never forget as many others a year ago today, and are so thankful you have your 3 boys this Valentine Day. Thankful God lead you through such a horrible experience and kept you under his wing. He has such loving care and keeping power for his people, and we are so fortunate to be in His care. Happy Valentine Day to each one of you, and have a good meeting this morning.

ReplyDeleteDee Dee,
ReplyDeleteGot your letter today and it's all I can think about! What an amazing recovery Clay has made! I think I, and many others, prayed for Clay longer and harder than ever and God has definitely answered our prayers. Thanks for the letter and pictures. I KNOW that could not have been easy for you. Please know that we celebrate Clay's recovery with you!! He is absolutely beautiful!!!!
Love,
Kelly, Reno, Alyssa and Morgan
I got your letter today and all your kids look great. It is nothing short of amazing the road that you all have been down. Imagine how much better things will be this time next year. You can see improvement after each surgery on all of your faces. There is no better look than happy. Also, Rusty got a Jack Russell too. She is Jack Russell/something else. Her name is Spam. We were going to name her Spazz because she was so hyper but she calmed down a bit, and we changed her name. You need to come see Spam. She is a funny little dog. God Bless
