Tuesday, November 3rd
Hello to all. We had some good news and a bit of a surprise yesterday, and wanted to keep everyone posted. Clay and Deidra went to Children's in Dallas for a follow up appointment. They were hoping to be put on the schedule for the neck release. We felt that time was of the essence and we were not sure we were going to be able to have it done before December. Deidra called yesterday around 1:00 p.m. and said that they have scheduled the neck procedure for next Monday, November 9th. We are thankful they could accommodate us and give him some relief sooner than we anticipated. The doctor was pleased with the results of his work on the hand. He has written orders for Clay to see a hand specialist for rehab. Deidra is trying to set up those appointments today. Deidra and Clay are staying busy with doctors, rehab, and school. Cody and Carson are just busy being second and fifth graders. Carson is on his way to a livestock judging contest this weekend at Texas A&M. I am trying to get our cows AId and hopefully sow some wheat if it every dries out enough to get back in the fields. Hope everyone is well. Thanks for all your help and comments. Come see us whenever you can.

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news! I'm so happy to hear that. Hope you all keep well and that things keep progressing in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and am glad to read of some who are furthur along this path... we are friends of Larissa and hope to see her taking these steps someday soon! Thanks for sharing your story. Our prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteGood evening, was so glad for your update as we are always anxious to hear a bit of news and information. We are glad they are getting Clay in sooner than you had anticipated. We hope the surgery is very successful and that he will be relieved of the scars pulling his little head down. It would be so uncomfortable for him. He may not pay any attention to it. Knowing little boys.
ReplyDeleteI am glad Carson is interested in animals, and showing stock in the shows, hope he does well in the Livestock Judging contest. They learn a lot in FFA and 4H. Next year Cody will get to do a lot of the fun stuff. Chance, it sounds like you have more rain than what you want, send some of it our way, we are still so dry out here. DD we wish you and your family well and hope everything goes fine in the future.
YAY! YAY! YAY!!! So happy this worked out for you. Tell Carson GOOD LUCK at A & M.
ReplyDeleteSo great to hear Clay is scheduled for next week. I had the privilege of talking with Joy yesterday about Clay & all of you. She shared some of being up in the burn unit on a day to day basis & seeing all the burn patients. Later that day I was thinking of how much I take for granted. Grateful that God has patience with us so we can learn how to be more thankful. Through the struggles of others this year...I have learned that things I think are so important really aren't but spending time with my husband, my children, my God...saying we love each other more, hugging & kissing more, being a better friend, wife, mother...all the things we learn to value more deeply because of life's struggle.
ReplyDeleteGlad that God has given & is still giving you strength to be strong in your struggle.
P.S. I was telling our 4 yr. old at bed time tonight that Clay was to have another surgery in a few sleeps & to say special prayers for him. He said, "Mom, I pray for Clay every night."
Wow you all have a lot going on and a lot of it is so good. I'm glad that Clay is having his surgery so soon because it will give him time to recover from the surgery before Christmas. I was thinking about you all yesterday and wondering what the doctor said. We keep praying as always. Tell Clay that Rusty said Hi. Rusty wanted me to sew him an airplane costume that looked like the plane on the calendar that Clay gave him. I think he had me confused with Martha Stewart. I had no clue how to even start doing that. Rusty had to settle for a cowboy hat on his head and being a sheriff for Halloween. Also tell Carson congratulations for his team already winning in 4-h. Congratulations to Cody too for just being a good kid. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteHey I have been reading you blog for a really long time now and was wondering if maybe you could post a picture of how Clay looks now I understand if u dont want to butClay is beautiful no matter what burns or not. Anyways thanks!
ReplyDeleteGood news that Clay's neck release is so close! Keep us posted and please give him a hug from Amarillo.
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to hear good news about Clay! We continue to keep him and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteGod Speed to Clay!
Hi Fites! Oh how I miss you! It is as if my friends have moved away and really it is just that God is healing and not much need for as many posts! SO....I am praising HIM!!I do miss you all! We have been very busy since returning to the US but we have also been busy praying! We are still praying each morning for our sweet little Clay! I am glad to hear they will be able to do this surgery in time for a peaceful and hopefully very special Thanksgiving and Christmas! I love you all and will continually pray for our sweet Fite family!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to hear new and good news from your house...I am just assuming here from the term "neck release" that it would mean his little chin is being pulled down towards his chest..and his range of motion would be quite restricted. We are so happy that he will be offered some help sooon...just a couple of days away. Bieng farmers ourselves, it was good to read about your effort to sow wheat...I hope it's all tucked safely in the ground by now. Do take care all of you...our thoughts swing your way often!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad for the news of Clay. We hope it will be a success like all the others. I know it is a struggle but glad you are all able to carry on with you daily activities. Carson, Cody and Clay are special to us.
