Thursday February 26th

Hello to everyone out there. Today was a day of rest for Clay. He and I read several books and had some good one sided conversation. He seems to be doing well. During one of the morning visits today a therapist came in and exercised his left arm and hand a little. She said we could help him do these exercises each time we visited and we have taken that to heart. We are going to work new life back into that arm and hand. Clay had a family from Olney stop by today and it was one of his best friends from Mrs. Sherry's 4 School. Morgan drew him a picture with a note and when I removed it from my pocket and told him what I had he was really excited. At the 5:00 visit this afternoon the nurse had been helping him scratch his nose and she had cleaned much of the burned skin from his little nose. It was a vibrant pink underneath and we told her how encouraging it was to see his nose again with out all of the bandages. When we came back in at 7:30 to tell him goodnight we were in for an even bigger surprise. The same nurse had worked on the area around his mouth and out to the more severe burns on the sides of his face. There was new skin under the cleaned off area and no bandages around his chin so we received our first unobstructed view of Clay since the 14th. It does not take much to encourage parents and we know there are many trials and procedures in the future, but it seems each day God gives us a little ray of sunshine and it is much appreciated. Thank you to everyone who has called, stopped by, posted a comment, or helped in ways we are unaware of. Deidra and I have been amazed by the love, help, and support of friends and family. Last but not least I would like to thank Dr. Purdue and all the residents who have been with us through the first three surgeries. You have done a great job and we are thankful.

  6. So happy to hear the wonderful news! Thank you so much for letting us know how Clay is progressing every day! We enjoy getting up every morning to check for the update and the great news that God is continuing to answer all of our prayers!!! Just a word of encouragement about switching doctors in the next few days, since you trust Dr. Pardue, remember he would not turn his patients care over to someone that he does not have full confidence in. So we are sure that you will have wonderful new doctors too!! We will keep praying for all of you and the medical staff also!! Have a wonderful day!

  11. Chance & family,
You all will be amazed at how God works in mysterious ways. As a youngster that was hard for me to comprehend, but I have witnessed God's will right in front of my eyes as a mom & nurse. God will even be there when you question why us or how could this happen? Clay is a fighter..I have looked at his picture several times & I can see the fighting spirit within his soul. He is a precious gift from God along with Carson & Cody. I am praying for all of you.

  27. Dear Fite family,
My immediate family is praying for you. My extended family in KS and their churches are praying for your family.
Recently my family went through a major trial with my mom. PS 23 has always been a great one but became especially dear to my heart during that time in the hospital.
PS 23:3 "He leads my in the paths of righteousness." My pastor says that means "down the right path".
Trust that you are indeed on the right path, even though it's dark, bumpy and uneven. God is with you and will keep you through this.
I don't know you but that's okay, God knows every little detail and I am most happy to pray:) I agree that your posts are wonderful and a delight to read and know how to better pray.
    Blessings,

  29. Praise God for this good day! You all continue to be in my prayers. The word that came to mind just now is "increase". I'm not sure what that means. May God increase the blood flow or blood supply? Increase the regeneration of cells? Increase faith? Increase what, exactly, I don't know. But, yes, God please grant INCREASE! Amen

  30. I am so glad to hear this news. I woke up this morning thinking about how lively Clay is. I remember when we were at Monica's wedding, he had a mind of his own and didn't really want to have his picture taken! I enjoyed the comment made above about recognizing his fighting spirit from his picture. I believe God is working through the staff at Parkland. I know you all do too. Keep your faith and rest when you can. Love, Aunt Teena p.s. I have commented so many times, that I will make this my last for several days...but I WILL be waiting for blog updates & reading all of them.

  33. Chance and Deidra,
Our Love and Prayers are offered everyday and sent your way. There sure is a lot of that going on out there. God has and will continue to work miricles through Clay and his family. I'm so glad you met Connis and his family. He is a strong Christian man. Lean on each other and us. I can't help but think God's will and Love is greatly enriched when it is shared among his children.
My Love to you, my brother.
