Sunday, June 14th
Hello to all. We hope everyone had a good day. Clay did. He made several trips to the playroom and he ate a portion of every meal. We are so glad to see him start to regain an appetite. I think the highlight of his day was the fact that he felt well enough to eat Cheetos. He does not usually get them at home and he relished the first small bag and then told us he could eat another. He waited until he returned to his room and found another small bag and enjoyed every crumb in that one as well. He was orange from head to toe. He helped a great deal during his bath. After he was cleaned up we went back to the playroom. Kevin and Lizzie Smith were there and when I put Clay down he walked to Kevin and gave him a big hug. He enjoys the X-box in the playroom but guest give him a chance to break out the board games and play a bit. We are scheduled for discharge tomorrow. He is going to be headed to the Ronald McDonald house with the trach and the feeding tube in place. I think both of these items are insurance. If he continues to eat the feed tube can be removed pretty quickly. Jenae is en route tonight from Argentina. She and the kids will arrive here at 6:00 in the morning. She is going to stay and help Clay and DeeDee this week while Grandma gathers up a large group of grandchildren for a return to South Texas. Clay felt much more like himself and we appreciate all of the prayers on his behalf. Thanks to all and we will keep you posted as we make our way out of Parkland and closer to home.

Prayer works! I have prayed numerous times today that Clay would have a great day and that tomorrow would indeed be THE day! I will continue praying! I feel like my own child is reaching a huge milestone in life! Rejoicing with you! Love from Mexico! Missy
ReplyDeleteWe wish we could be in the front lobby cheering you on as you leave Parkland. We are so excited for the whole family. We wish you the best and we will continue to think of you.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Clay and you all have a fabulous farewell tomorrow and that he feels really good. I have to make a deliver this week to the McDonald house so I'll try to catch you if you are there then. God Bless you and keep you all. May the rest of the summer be really great for you all and your extended family. God is really good. I bet there will be a lot of tears and cheers at discharge. I imagine that it is really hard for the nurses and therapists to tell Clay goodbye.
ReplyDeleteWe, too would love to be there to see the exit from the hospital; but we'd rather be at the RMH awaiting arrival there. 4 months! Wow! It won't be long before you'll be saying good-bye to the RMH and what a welcome will await Clay in Olney. He has been such an inspiration to so many people and we pray only for good days ahead. Tubes are OK, because they are temporary - insurance is a good thing! Give our love to Janae and kids - we look forward to seeing them. Happy is just about a month away. Grandma will enjoy all the kids and Clay will have his turn in this group very soon. Love, Dawn & Pam
ReplyDeleteSo glad for the good news that Clay is getting back to feeling good again! And..that you get out of the hospital today!! A milestone is reached, and it is a day so many of us have waited for!! but none of us any more than you his parents, and family!! We are ecstatic with you!! We wish for you a good week at the RMH, and that you will be able to go home soon!! Our thoughts are with you!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear this! He was so miserable when we saw him last week. I've been praying all week for the stomach issues to go away...I'm so glad he is getting relief! I'll be by the RMH to see everyone this week (including Naylee!) Luv, Cal
ReplyDeleteSo happy that this day is here! Let us know if you need any help...and we CANT wait to see you all again!! You all are always in our thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful news. The girls keep asking when Clay is coming home. Hunter is so ready to see him. We love ya.
ReplyDeleteSOOOO THRILLED! Will keep praying for supernatural healing a good adjustment for all!
ReplyDeleteGood news, sounds like one step closer to going home and there is no place like home. We are so glad Clay is feeling better and eating more. It is nice Janae and her children can come and help you.
ReplyDeleteI have been amazed at the pouring in of love, care and interest of his people. You have had word from so many foreign countries and several states in the Union. Like our Wednesday night study last week, when one member of the body of Christ hurts the other members hurt with it. When Clay has been hurting we all hurt and ache with him.
Much love B&E
YEAH!!!!!!!"Love is the Kingdom's banner. . ." You have shown this so very well! (It seems like every time I post, a hymn comes to mind - so I just share!)
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with Edna - when one of our family hurts, we all hurt! We hurt for Clay's physical pain and we hurt for the emotional pain you all have felt.
Hugs and prayers from the distance.
Julie
I don't know your family at all, but have been reading your blog from the beginning. I work with Emma's grandma. I'm so happy for you all and for the progress that Clay has made. God is indead the ultimate healer. May God continue to bless your family and may many more wonderful days be in your future. There's nothing like being at home!

Glad to hear of the improvement. Such a dissapointment when Clay was doing so well. We all hope for the best. That anxiety thing may take some time but I'm sure it will improve.
ReplyDeleteAll the best.
Don from Winnipeg Canada
