Monday, June 29th

Good Morning to all. Clay had a busy weekend at home in Olney. He arrived Friday afternoon and was happy to be home. He had several things he wanted to show off. He had a new purple cast on his right hand, he has quickly learned that it is a club and he used it in our wrestling matches. We stayed around the house most of the day Saturday trying to avoid the heat. My grandfather had his 86th birthday Saturday night and we went to Seymour for the celebration. They had BBQ and Clay ate about 10 pounds. We did not stay long, but when we returned home and Clay was getting ready for bed he needed a little more sausage before he could say goodnight. He enjoyed his brothers and cannot understand why he cannot go outside whenever the urge strikes him. Sunday we went to meeting and had a pot luck lunch after. There are several younger girls there and they waited on Clay hand and foot. He was the king and they were a group of mother hens. He enjoyed playing with all of his meeting friends and it was good to be back with them after a long absence. He and Mom will head back to Dallas around noon today. Clay has a 3:00 OT appointment. Cody and Lizzie Smith are going to help Clay and Deidra while Carson and I stay in Olney. Carson will head to Electra tonight for his first tournament game. Clay has good moments and bad just like everyone but, he is getting stronger by the day. We will continue with therapies at Parkland for a couple more weeks and then we plan to move to the North Texas Rehab and continue the work closer to home. Hope everyone is having a good summer we appreciate every one's concerns and continued prayers.

  1. Thanks so much for the update! Maybe this is the hardest part - the transition to home - but not quite what he was used to in the past. We hope he progresses well! Keep the posts coming, he's still in our thoughts!

  2. I was so glad for the update this morning. Sounds like Clay is getting back in the swing of things, and getting out and going places. I know you were glad to be back in your home meeting yesterday. Would have been a comfort to be home. We continue to pray for Clay and the healing of his little body. Hope you all have good days ahead. B&E

  6. I sometimes feel guilty at night when I don't check your blog. I feel like I have let you down in some way. However that is when I pray and remember that is what is healing Clay, not these comments! I continue to pray for my Clayball and I am so happy to hear that he is experiencing some normal life. I prayed for him today while we were at the pool. I prayed you could find some fun indoor activities for all 3 boys to do together. Love you all! Missy

  8. I'm still weepy over the grand entry to Olney last weekend, not he has gotten to re-enter his old world with love and attention. What a day you all had at meeting yesterday and I'm so glad Clay could enjoy meeting and eating BBQ. I'm glad Cody is getting to go be with him this week as well. I'm sure there ARE up times and down times. This will level out, I'm sure. God bless you all and I hope Carson had a great tournament tonight. Marty is an air traffic controler in Abilene and he says Olney shows up on the radar screen as ONY so he knows right where you all are. I have kept him and Cindy up to date on Clay's improvements as I talk to them.
Love you all, Fite Family! Carolyn

  9. I am so very happy for you. I can imagine that your little Sunday morning meeting...that first one after this ordeal, was a very very tender meeting. Suspect there were some tears! and smiles!! yes, there will be the up and down hills...but you have crossed a horribly rough stretch of the road. You do not walk alone. My love and care, Susie's Mom, Linda Block

  17. Hope the Fites got to enjoy some fireworks. We had rain in Illinois so they were sort of a fizzle!

  18. Every weekend we love thinking of Deedee and Clay coming home and all of you having a few days together. Hope you had a good weekend this weekend...any chance Clay gets to stay home and go to Wichita Falls for therapy instead of back to Parkland this week? Thinking of you all and hope to see you at Happy. Love, Morgan, Michelle, and kiddos
