Friday, March 27th
Hope everyone is staying warm this evening. This is Dad. Carson, Cody and I arrived back in Dallas tonight. Most of today's events were relayed to us by Mom and Grandma. Clay had a pretty good day. Deidra was allowed to help him walk this morning at the 8:00 a.m. visit. The physical therapist got him up and started him walking with Mom's help. He walked from his room down to Kermit's. He was not really a willing participant in this exercise, but he was not given a choice. When he arrived at Kermit's room he gave a wave and a thumbs-up sign to his new friend. The therapist thought that Clay had exercised enough and told him he could go back to his room and his bed. This was all the instruction he needed. He made a turn and headed back to his room at a faster pace than he had been moving. Mom jokingly told Clay he was barn soured like his horse Pete. I told Deidra he was bed soured. Clay was looking for the comfort of his familiar bed to get some relief from those painful steps he has to take on the road to recovery. After lunch they had Clay sitting up in his chair. The child life specialist asked that Clay be allowed to go to the play room too see several new toys that had been donated to the unit. Clay road over in his chair but he was much to tired and/or sedated to show much interest in the new gadgets. He'll really enjoy doing his therapy in the playroom one of these days. We feel like Clay showed some improvement today and we are thankful for this. They will probably have a good look at the back of his head tomorrow and determine the condition of his graft. Thanks to all who have been so gracious to Clay and the Fite family.

ReplyDeleteWE appreciate you keeping us informed every day. We rejoice when there is improvement and are sad when things don't seem to be going to well. But aren't we glad that there is one that knows and sees everything, and understands all to well how little Clay is doing and how you all are feeling also.
ReplyDeleteWe pray for you all and want you to know we care. Wishing you all a good and better report each day. Love, Sarah & Jim Lewis--Mesa, Az.
Hope the weather doesn't get too bad for you either. Clay, you are doing a GREAT job. Today, your Aunt Kathy and I were at the same meeting in Wichita Falls! Small World! We talked about what amazing blessings haven come to us through this whole thing. What wonderful people God sends our way even when it may be the worst of times. Fite Family and others: Keep up the good work!

GOOD MORNING~ and we hope that is truly what it is today for you! I can only 'imagine' the anxiousness of going to little Clay's room everymorning..and with every visit! There is nothing that means more to us as parents than our children! When they hurt, we hurt, when they are happy, we are happy, etc. etc! (The only problem is, when you have more than ONE, those emotions seem to ALWAYS be 'intwined!') :-)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted you to know you are in our thoughts today, and we send our love to each of you!! <3
Good morning from Happy, Texas. The sun is shining this morning after a snowy and windy day yesterday. We think of you several times every day, and today we hope the grafts are A-OK and are doing what the Doctors ordered. We understand he hurts with every step, but are very glad he can walk. DD we haven't heard anything about your hands, are they healing up o.k.? We think of all of your family and their love and care. Just know Gods family have the same love and care as well. ReplyDeleteHi guys, I am new to your site but I think about your precious little boy and your family all the time. My heart is truely with you and I want to do anything I can to help. I posted a story with a link to this site to get some of the prayer warriors I know familiar with your story. I am praying for your Clay and for his mommy and daddy and for his brothers. I am sure that this is very hard on them. I also feel that they may not know how to show it, so I lift them up to the Lord along with all of you. I pray for restoration for Clays body and his mind. I know that God is big and He is with you in a mighty way. I will stay in touch, if that is ok with you.

Hey you guys! Glad to hear the awesome improvements Clay is making daily. Got ticked over his hand waving, bet that is a challenge to figure out at times. Sometimes I feel like I don't truly understand what my kids are saying and feeling, guess that goes with the territory of being a parent. Lots of prayer are being sent your way, we thank God for the wonderful ways he answers them. Think about you guys all the time.

Hi I don't know you folks but saw your blog posted on someones facebook page. Thinking of you all very much from Finland. I have siblings the ages of your children and know it's not easy seeing them suffer with even the most simple of things. Take care, Laura Jelinek
