Saturday March 14th
Good evening to all. It has been exactly one month since the accident and Clay has been holding down his bed in the ICU for all of it. We are thankful for the healing process we have seen over this first month and five surgeries. Deidra and I realize that there are still many struggles and trials ahead for Clay and ourselves, but we are also grateful that we have come so far so fast. I can think back to Valentine night and know that we are very lucky that this little boy is still with us. We have seen several people come in and out of the ICU throughout the month and many people's struggles and burns are worse than Clay's. Clay is currently fighting a urinary tract infection and the antibiotics are hitting him pretty hard. Sunday will be a day of rest for Clay with no therapy scheduled. We hope that Monday brings a successful swallow test and a few tentative steps with the P.T. Several visitors today, and we were glad to see each one. Hope everyone has a good Sunday please keep Clay in your prayers.

Dear DeeDee,Chance,Cody,Carson and of course Clay, I was so excited to read your comment on our blog! I really feel like you are a part of my family. I pray for all of you as if I have known you all of my life. Today as Annie got out of the shower (one of those things we no longer take for granted) she said, "Mama we have to pray right now for Clay and his brothers, because I think they are sad." So she did just that. So I am hoping they are not sad! I have been praying that Clay passes the swallow test because I have a feeling that will help some with the thirst issue. I feel so badly for him. I find myself clicking on your page sometimes multiple times a day just to look at his sweet face and pray for him! Some day, don't know when, but some day, I do hope to meet your whole family and give you all big hugs! Once you go through something like this, you see everything, everyone, different! Annie wasn't burnt nearly as badly as Clay, but we saw 100's that were and many who unfortunately were worse. It changes you, all of you forever. Please know that if you are ever having a really tough day, you have a friend praying for you! Love and hugs from the Wood family!
ReplyDeleteYou are in our hearts and thoughts and prayers today, as always. Wish we could hug you all..maybe we, too, can someday meet all of you and do just that! Your family has been part of our lives since hearing about Clay, and we feel every progress and every hurdle with you...only in part, we know. We hope Clay's UTI clears up fast. With care...
ReplyDeleteThank you for your continuous updates! I hope today brings rest for CLay and yourselves! I am so glad that Carson got to go into Clay's room. Cody will get to soon! How sweet to here your brother's voice! Your in our continued prayers little guy!!!
ReplyDeleteLots of prayers today and every day for each of you!! We hope that the UTI clears up real fast and that Monday he will ace that swallow test!! We will be praying hard for these things!! Hope each of you get some rest tomorrow as well as Clay to prepare for another week of healing!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chance, for the update. My prayer for all of you is peaceful rest today. This is what God intended for you. Love and prayers continue for you all each day. I don't forget Carson and Cody either. I know they are separated from you but they have their precious Grandma Joy. I'm so glad she could be there with you all this time. I love you all, Carolyn
ReplyDeleteFrom our little village in Mexico our heartfelt prayers are going up that he will have a successful swallow test, so that he can begin to enjoy some more normal things. Praise God that He has kept you and strengthened you all. We read with interest about his uncle coming from Chile (we used to be in Peru) and are wondering if he also is a missionary. We were reminded this morning that what God speaks into our lives ENDURES! Hold on to every reassurance and promise He has spoken into your hearts during this trial. He is faithful! For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast." Psalm 33:9
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Chance, DD and the 3 little boys. Our thoughts are with you this afternoon as it is everyday. We appreciate the blog in keeping up with the progress of Clay. Hope the test proves positive tomorrow and he can start drinking some water. Ya'll hang in there and hope you have a restful day today. B&E
ReplyDeleteI've been following along here quietly- but every post strikes a chord with me as we stood by some dear friends while Dad was in the Burn Unit. So much of this is familiar, I get goosebumps sometimes. It's a long road but wishing you strength for each day's steps.
ReplyDeleteI'm also an acquaintance (although just barely!) of Grady and Jenae's- IN native.
Just hoping that today was restful for Clay and all of you as you get ready for another week of therapy, surgery, and progress. Know that we are all thinking of each one of you so much. We were with Cara and Anthony this weekend. They haven't been able to comment but they are checking your blog daily and are thinking about you too. With love, Morgan and Michelle
