Saturday March 7th

Hello to everyone. Long day and losing an hour tonight will keep this short. Clay had a pretty good day except for the catheter issue. It is still causing him much discomfort. He can be resting peacefully and wake up crying when he has to urinate. One huge milestone was reached today in Mom and Dad's eyes. Clay was placed in his chair/bed after lunch and at 2:00 this afternoon the physical therapist asked us to help them set him on the edge of his chair and then to assist him in standing. HE SUCCEEDED. He was very weak after so many weeks in bed but he supported the majority of his weight for the quick minute he had his feet under him. We picked him up and put him back into bed and you could see the relief. It was a hard 30 seconds on a little guy and it was harder on Mom and Dad. He then did a few more exercises and was ready for an afternoon nap. We have surgery number 5 tentatively scheduled for next Wednesday. Thank you to all who have called, written, or visited. Special thanks Tower Extrusions and all of the folks there who have been more than helpful and understanding throughout this experience.

  3. We are so proud of you Clay! You are doing an awesome job with your recovery and keep it up! God and our prayers are with you in becoming stronger with each surgery and your exercises. Kirstyn is one of your mom's kiddos is three school and we are teaching her to pray before bedtime. She constantly prays for Miss DeeDee and her little boy Clay that he gets feeling and God touches him with his healing hands. Continually praying and especially for your left hand and fingers get well and hopefully prayer, God and your wonderful medical team can restore use to them.
    Love and Prayers,
Chris, Stephanie, Kirstyn and Emma Kirby

  5. Thanks so much for taking the time to keep us posted. We check everyday for the latest. So glad Clay is progressing so fast. Just from the few times of real stress we had with our 3, I know how tired you must be by now. Take care of yourselves (eat, rest and sleep)not only does Clay need you but Carson & Cody too. Just keep on being strong all heaven is on your side. Our love, Us 2

  6. What a major milestone for Clay to be out of bed - even if for only a few minutes. We know it is also milestone for you, Chance & DeeDee, for you to help him take one more important step in the process of healing. We think of you on this first day of the week! Love, Dawn & Pam

  7. We Praise God!-
    For continuing to heal Clay
For providing great family who support The Fite Family in this long road to recovery
For the friends who continue to lift them up to God in prayer
For renewing His mercies and our faith daily
    For never forsaking His people

    We Pray -
That God would continue heal Clay
That God would shield Clay from infections and pain
That God would continue to renew His mercies each day
That God would encourage Clay, Carson, Cody, Chance and DeeDee in their hearts and souls

    Isaiah 40:8, 26-31
“Lift your eyes and look to the heavens; Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary, and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. “

  9. Dear Fite Family, you do not know me but I have continued to follow Clay's progress each day with prayers and tears. My sister who lives in Graham and has three young boys of her own and has forwarded this site to me. I just wanted you to know that you have people in Kentucky lifting little Clay up to the Lord each day. May you rest in God's loving arms.

  10. Not only do family and friends read your blog daily for updates on Clay's condition, but complete strangers also say prayers for your precious little guy. I'm one of those strangers. It makes my heart hurt to hear of his pain, but I am positive that this terrible childhood experience will undoubtedly develop a strong faith and character into adulthood.

When we hear of the hurdles that Clay and your entire family are facing and will continue to face, we must all take a moment to thank God for what we have. We take so much for granted.

    God Bless!!
