This is Jenae again...filling in for Chance and DeeDee. Chance went back home to be with Carson and Cody for a day or so and DeeDee is at the hospital.

Today was an emotional day for everyone. Clay cried a lot today and DeeDee cried a lot along with him. One of his eyes was bleeding this morning and it was very hard for Chance and DeeDee to see those tears streak down his little face.

They took the respirator off him for 4 hours today so he was breathing with just the oxygen cup over his trach tube. That was good news. Chance and DeeDee just hold his hand and try to comfort him. They met the new doctor this morning who will be on for the next 30 days now. He tentatively scheduled Clay's next surgery for Wednesday.

  4. Dear Chance & DeeDee,

As hard as these days are, they are most certainly progress, and that is SO good.

As hard as it is to hear Clay cry and see his tears, they too are progress, and speak of Clay's determined spirit.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Clay is so blessed to have you two as his loving and caring parents, and such a wonderful family around him.

  6. Chance & DeeDee (and Clay), though it may be hard to watch Clay cry, just know that tears of pain and discomfort today will turn into tears of joy one day, soon. Progress IS being made. DeeDee& Chance will have tears of sorrow seeing tears run down this little guy's cheek, but soon they will be tears of joy know how far he has come. We look forward to hearing again. Thank you Janae! We are glad you are there to help and support. We love you all - Dawn & Pam

  8. I went to Carter Blood Center here in Ft. Worth on Saturday and donated. My blood is 0+ and Carter asked if Clay is needing platelets donated? If so, I can do that, I am a perfect donor for that because my blood type is compatible with all others. I thought about this precious little boy I do not know all Saturday afternoon, and said prayers for your family on Sunday morning during Communion. I am sorry he hurts and is going thru so much for such a little guy....and I cannot begin to know how you must feel and how tired you are...but know that so many folks are lifting you all up in prayer.

  9. I am crying, too. I hate to see all of you in pain. You are constantly in my prayers.

I wanted to share a bit of good news for you. Meg, a woman in my womens' bible study group, called her college (UT Arlington) and they released 144 credits to Clay!

  10. Hey Fite family...be encouraged! God is with you and knows your needs today... We are believing with you for Clay's healing! Although our little Jesse only spent 1 week in burn care at Lubbock a couple of months ago, we understand just a little some of your challenges and concerns...we think that little Clay may be one of the reasons God allowed us to go through what we did, so we could interecede in prayer for him...He is so close to our hearts.... Jesse (just turned 5) and I pray together for Clay...we look at Clay's picture and hold hands (his are still healing from his burns) and we pray to God for Clay believing for his healing! There is power in prayer! Know that God is in control! we are believing with you and interceding for you... love the Cochrans

  11. This is such a hard time...a balance between keeping him calm and without pain and also alert enough to do his own breathing. I feel for you guys. I am so sorry you have to go through this part to get better. You can do it though. Your calm presence and encouragement is the perfect recipe for helping Clay. He is so lucky to have you. I love you guys and think of you always.

  12. We are among others shedding tears with and for Clay, and with you, his parents. We do not understand your expereience, but as parents, we understand that when our children hurt, we hurt so much more. We continue to keep you in our thoughts and hearts and prayers, and wait to hear of more progress in Clay's healing. Maybe he can open his eyes this week! Thank you for the efforts going into keeping this blog updated.

  14. We lift all of you up in prayer constantly. I know how hard it would be to see the tears and want to hold Clay to make it better. I pray that that happens soon. When we went to give blood for Clay today in Graham, I was humbled by the turn out. Three big CarterBlood Bank buses were outside Walmart and a steady stream of people stopping by. Clay and all of you have made an impact on people and it was evident in the number of people lining up to help. Prayers continue you way.
