Saturday, May 30th
Good evening, we apologize for the skip. It was not intentional, just exhaustion. The Fite family had a big day on Clay's behalf. Adventure Boot Camp in Carrollton sponsored a 5K run to benefit Clay. A lady that is a friend of the family organized most of the event, (Thanks Callie). There were several sponsors and many participants that ran on Clay's behalf. We appreciate everyone who helped or ran. Carson and Cody were the starters for the race and they enjoyed the opportunity to help out. This is Dad and I spent last night and today with Clay. He had a fairly restful night and a busy day. He has started eating like a horse and tonight he told me, " This spaghetti is delicious." Big words from a boy who hasn't spoken in over 100 days. He walked quite a bit and spent some time in the hall visiting with several family members. I think he enjoyed being the center of attention. We are hoping he continues to progress at the pace he has set for himself. It amazes us that his strength is returning so rapidly. We know it is the thoughts, prayers, and love of all that are assisting him in his recovery. He will have several rehab sessions in his future, but we will help him work his way through them. We wish everyone a restful and blessed Sunday. Good Night.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI ran in the 5k today for Clay. I am so excited to learn about this website and thankful that with everything else you have on your plate, you're taking the time to keep us updated. I was burned 85% of body when I was 4 years old. What wasn't burned was used for graphs, but today I'm 36, happy, healthy and runny in a 5K. Stay positive, keep praying and when the time comes don't be afraid to scratch his itch. Trust me, you'll know.
So wonderful to hear that Clay is improving every day! My days are not complete until I have checked on Clay.
ReplyDeleteGod is Good!! Praise the Lord for Clay's progress!! Our prayers will continue to be with you all throughout Clay's recovery.

Whooooooo!!!!!!! Great news! I pray for you guys when God puts you on my mind. God bless
ReplyDeleteI think that the past 100 days Clay has been saving his energy for these past 2 or 3 days! I am praying with you that his progress continues on this path! So happy to hear he is doing well. I wish I could have run for him, I have been running the prayer race instead. Love you all! Missy
ReplyDeleteI think that he just needed his family around him during the "dark" hours of night. So having the security of family around at all times helped settle him down and then the food he's been able to eat is all going to make Clay a happy boy. Happy boys heal quicker and go home sooner!!! I am so happy for you all. I knew it was something good .... if not exhausting .... that prevented the blog last night, but I am so glad to get to read it now. I love you all and God bless each of you, Carolyn
ReplyDeleteWow! This blog certainly has a new personality!! Yeah! for Clay and hip-hip-whoray for his whole family. Continue to get any/all rest that you can. Praying for you all.

Dee Dee, Rusty is going to teach me to play basketball, dodgeball, tennis, football, and soccer. It should be interesting because he doesn't know how to play those games. He can't wait to get out to Megargel to run loose. I'm not sure that my jiggly thighs and total-out-of-shapeness can even make it to one end of the court without passing out. Rusty is going to whip me into shape. I need a nap just thinking about it. Rusty says that he really wants Clay to be on his team. I should warn you about Rusty that however he figures out to get the job done is the official game rules. I'm pretty sure that we don't play anything by the actual regulations. Rusty can't wait to break out the snowcone machine and get really sticky and then get skirted off with the water hose. If Clay runs out of things to do, head Rusty's way. Rusty doesn't want to play with his Sissy or me because we are girls. He is looking for a kindred spirit. God Bless
ReplyDeleteWe have been out of town for a few days and were elated to check in and hear of so much progress!!! What exciting news that Clay is eating so well, isn't sick, and going home is being talked about!!! What wonderful, wonderful, news!!! We hope today was a good day too. We can't imagine how wonderful it must be to hear Clay talk after such a long time of silence. I so badly wish we could stop by and say hello to all of you! Sending hugs and love, Morgan and Michelle
