Tuesday, May 12th

Good evening. This is Chance here for tomorrow's surgery. Clay can chalk up another day in the BICU. He was asleep this morning at 6:00. He was still in bed at 8:00. Debbie was his nurse and she fixed an additional suction tube up so Clay could use it anytime he needed. There were several doctors that came in at the end of this visit. Clay was a little overwhelmed by all of the strange faces, and was upset when Mom and Grandma had to step out. At the 11:00 visit occupational therapy played several games with him. He likes to play but quickly wears down. After lunch Mom was able to pull Clay around in his wagon. He seems to enjoy seeing new sites. He was resting at the 5:00 visit and was still asleep in the wagon when we went in to visit at 7:30. Deidra and I asked the night nurse if we could help her put him in his bed. She seemed to welcome our help and we quickly had him situated and ready for a good nights rest. Clay was still having issues keeping his tube feeds down and he did not feel good all day. We are praying for a restful night for him and a successful surgery tomorrow. He is the second procedure on the schedule and will probably go to the O.R. around 10:00 a.m. Please keep him in your prayers. Good night

  2. My name is Katie Crosbie - I am a reporter at KFDX, and Chance, I spoke with you on the phone about a month ago. I read your blog every night, and it just absolutely breaks my heart to realize what your family is going through. I am inspired by your faith and your outlook ... and your upbeat, positive attitudes. Poor little Clay - I wish y'all could just scoop him up in your arms and give him a big hug and take him home and he wouldn't have to be in any pain. I cannot imagine what it's like for parents to watch a child suffer like that, and to only be able to see your little boy during certain visiting hours ~ your strength is SO admirable. This has to be so hard on the other boys and your whole family ... please know that all of Texoma is lifting your family up in prayer every day. I've been writing updates that we air on the news once a week, and I always rejoice when there is good news to report. I haven't commented before, but I check in every day, and your Clay is always in my thoughts & prayers. Please let me know if there is anything I can do, or that KFDX can do - we're happy to help get the word out about anything you need. And we'll keep publicizing any fundraisers or blood drives. My e-mail is katie@kfdx.com. Thanks for keeping us posted - and stay strong. I wish I had something to say that would take this all away ... but all I can say is that we'll keep praying. With love and prayers, Katie Crosbie

  3. We'll be keeping you all in our thoughts tonight for a good day tomorrow. Thank you, again, for keeping all of us updated on Clay's progress each day. My three little boys ask about Clay often and wonder how he's doing. They are learning some very important lessons as we pray together for Clay and read his blog each night. Your family's faith and grace during this trial are an incredible encouragement to so many of us!

  5. Chance, DeeDee and Clay, love and prayers are coming your way for a peaceful night and the food to stay down and for the wisdom and understanding of Clay's injuries as the doctors take their God given skills still another mile.

Well, I just read up to Wilma's post and see that we are praying in one accord! I think that is what we are all doing right now. God is answering our prayers and I find that God places Clay in my mind several times a day. I'm sure he is nudging many of us round the clock.
I love you more than ever and appreciate you both,
    Carolyn

  6. Ya'll are still in my thoughts and prayers. You've been on our prayer list in my life group on Sundays as well. I don't post often but read your updates nightly. My youngest son Sean was there in 94, he was just a year old. he's now 15 and doing fine. He recently had another surgery on his rt. hand and is missing part of a finger but he's adapted well. just wanted to stop by and drop you a note this time, amongst the many others. Will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

  7. Oh Yes, Little Clay is most definitely in our thoughts and prayers for this morning (Wednesday) for his surgery. We are hopeful that the autografts are successful. We still pray for his relief from the nausea and vomiting. We pray there is soon a solution. We look forward to hearing how the surgery goes and pray comfort for each of you today! Love, Dawn & Pam

  12. Your faith and strength are so encouraging to me when I follow up each day on Clays progress. I hope Clays surgery goes well, and I have you all in my thoughts during each day. It is just amazing of how strong Clay is when I follow up each time. Children are a blessing, and it is uplifting to see how faith can lead him and your family through something as difficult as this.

  13. We don't have much to add...our thoughts are the same as others. We don't go through one day without talking and thinking about each one of you and praying that you'll have grace for the day. We hope the surgery went well today. Sending thoughts and love, Morgan and Michelle
